Former NMSU Regent Appointed To Spaceport Authority By Martinez

  Laura Conniff of Las Cruces has been appointed to the Spaceport Authority.  Conniff is the only woman on the eight-member board. Conniff is a broker and co-owner of Mathers Realty, Inc. She is also a co-founder and co-chairman of NMSU Aggies Are Tough Enough to Wear Pink, an organization raising funds for cancer research. Conniff is a former New Mexico State University regent and was named Citizen of the Year by both the Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce and the Las Cruces Hispano Chamber of Commerce in 2013. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces.

The New Mexico Spaceport Authority Board of Directors consists of eight members; six are appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the State Senate. The Lt. Governor and the Secretary of the Economic Development Department or his designee are also members. By statute, no more than three of the appointed members shall belong to the same political party. Members serve staggered four-year terms.
