El Paso – A former Army nurse will spend 41 months in federal prison for infecting surgical patients with hepatitis C.
Jon Dale Jones pleaded guilty earlier this year to assault and theft charges. He admitted stealing powerful painkillers from patients and infecting them with hepatitis c while anesthetizing them during surgeries at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso.
Jones, a retired Army major, was working as a civilian when authorities say he infected at least 16 patients.
He will start serving his sentence on January 5.
