Four Men Charged With Assaulting LCPD Officers

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – Police arrested four men after they physically assaulted Las Cruces Police officers in front of a downtown nightclub.

Gerald Fernandez, 42, Shane Andrews, 38, and Russell Andrews, 35, all of Carlsbad, N.M., and 37-year-old Eleutero Galindo of Las Cruces are each charged with assault on a peace officer, and resisting or obstructing an officer.

Just after 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, police were called to Graham's Central Station at 505 S. Main St. for an unrelated call. While in the parking lot, nightclub security staff alerted officers to Russell Andrews who was reportedly causing a disturbance inside the club and was refusing to leave.

Nightclub security escorted Russell Andrews outside where Las Cruces Police officers also suggested he leave the premises. Russell Andrews refused to leave the area and became physically combative with Galindo and officers.

Shane Andrews then grabbed one of the officers and threatened to strike him. Shane Andrews was subsequently restrained by officers and security staff.

All four men were transported to the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $10,000 each.
