Free Child Car Safety Seat Training Saturday

The Doña Ana County Health and Human Services Department, in conjunction with the New Mexico Department of Transportation and Safer New Mexico Now, will conduct free car seat checks during a safety clinic this weekend in Las Cruces.

The clinic will be held at Kohl’s department store at 2500 N. Triviz on Saturday, Feb. 16 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The clinic will provide parents and caregivers hands-on instruction from certified car seat technicians on the correct use and installation of child safety seats. In addition to proper installation, technicians will check for broken parts and whether or not the seat has been recalled, has expired, or is otherwise unsafe.

Saturday’s event is open to the public and is free of charge. Technicians will spend approximately 30 minutes per family or person. Parents and caregivers must bring the child safety seat and, if possible, the child that uses it.

For more information, contact the Doña Ana County Health and Human Services Department, (575) 525-5833 or toll free, 1-800-231-6145.
