George P. Bush Campaigns In El Paso Ahead Of Tuesday Primary
Surprises and runoffs are likely ahead in Tuesday's primary elections that will begin a major reshuffling of political power in Texas.
Republican George P. Bush on Monday sought to boost conservative turnout in El Paso by telling supporters that President Barack Obama is the real opponent this election year. He called Democratic gubernatorial challenger Wendy Davis an "ideological soulmate" of Obama.
The 37-year-old Bush is running for land commissioner and is considered a heavy favorite to win this November.
Other statewide races are more competitive and could be headed for runoffs. That includes the one for lieutenant governor, where Republican David Dewhurst hasn't been able to separate from three prominent challengers.
Meteorologists warn that cold and icy weather Tuesday morning could make driving to the polls difficult in some areas.
