“During my time in office, I am proud that the council has brought over 13 major different projects to correct those mistakes and greatly increase the value of the district. That includes 6 new parks and more in the near future. I want to continue to invest in our economy, infrastructure Community projects.”

Councilor Sorg will continue to make a priority to invest in the economy, helping local small and large businesses grow at higher rates while attracting new businesses with higher paying jobs. Sorg cited the city’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and an ever-improving quality of life.

“The city has overcome one of the worst recessions in memory with remarkable skill, cutting millions of dollars in expenditures while maintaining a high level of service during population growth. Even with limited resources, we have continued to make Las Cruces a better place to live to and make real progress. We have made Las Cruces one of the best cities of its size in the nation. The rest of nation is figuring out what we already knew, that Las Cruces is a great place to live and work.”

Sorg emphasized his commitment to openness and accountability on the part of city government. He continues to be very reachable and approachable.

“Where past decisions were often made with little public input, the current Mayor and Council have opened the process with extended work sessions, public meetings, and constant effort to seek the opinion of city residents. People in my district know that their input makes a difference.”
