Girl Reunited With Rabbit Taken From Fair

There's a happy ending in the mystery of what happened to a rabbit that disappeared from its cage at the Southern New Mexico State Fair near Las Cruces.

The 4-year--old rabbit has been found and returned to an 8-year-girl and her family.

The rabbit disappeared a week ago after winning numerous awards at the fair, and the family feared that it was stolen and sold to an unsuspecting buyer.

The Las Cruces Sun-News reports a Las Cruces Animal Control officer found the rabbit Saturday inside a pillowcase on the campus of New Mexico State University.

Meagan Francis picked up her daughter's rabbit from the Animal Service Center of the Mesilla Valley.

Francis says the family is not going to push for an investigation to determine who had the rabbit.
