GOP Candidates Advertise In Advance Of June 1 Primary

By KRWG News

New Mexico – Candidates for governor in New Mexico are flooding the television airwaves with advertising as early voting nears in the June primary election.

But the campaigns also are using online videos to attract supporters and show a lighter side of the candidates from changing tires to cooking.

In a five-way race for the Republican gubernatorial nomination, candidates look for a way to set themselves apart.

Campaigns traditionally turn to TV ads to deliver their message to voters. That's expensive. The Internet gives candidates more options, and campaigns are posting videos on their web sites and YouTube.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Doug Turner changes a flat tire during a wintery campaign trip in one video. Republican Allen Weh has campaign videos showing off his cooking skills.
