Gov. Martinez Appoints Hobbs Lawyer To Judgeship

Office of the Governor

Hobbs lawyer Laura Castillo has been appointed by Gov. Susana Martinez to a newly created district court judgeship in southeastern New Mexico.

Castillo has operated her own law practice in Hobbs since 2010, and before that worked in a private law firm in the community and was an assistant district attorney.

She received her law degree in 2004 from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. Castillo received an undergraduate degree from the University of the Southwest in Hobbs.

The judgeship in the 5th Judicial District was among four district court judgeships approved by the Legislature and governor this year.
