SANTA FE, N.M. – New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez is helping the Republican Governors Association raise money.
A political adviser to the governor said Wednesday that Martinez is attending a series of private fundraisers in Houston, Texas to benefit the association, which contributes to GOP gubernatorial candidates across the country.
The governor is to return to New Mexico late Wednesday.
Martinez political strategist Jay McCleskey said in an email statement that the GOP group is paying for costs of the trip, including commercial airfare.
Martinez is the nation's only Hispanic female governor. She took office in January.
