SANTA FE, N.M. – A political action committee affiliated with Republican Gov. Susana Martinez has raised more than a half million dollars during the past six months.
The governor established Susana-PAC earlier this year and it can spend money to influence next year's races for legislative seats.
In a report filed Tuesday with the secretary of state, the governor's PAC showed contributions of nearly $560,000 and expenditures of about $261,000.
Contributing $10,000 to the PAC was Sunland Park race track owner Stan Fulton. State law caps contributions at $5,000 for each election, which means $10,000 can be given for the primary and general elections.
The PAC had a cash balance of about $300,000 as of last week.
The governor's re-election committee raised about $109,000 and reported cash-on-hand of nearly $266,000.
