Have Dinner And A Movie With The Filmmakers In Silver City

When was the last time, or first time for that matter, you had dinner and a movie with the filmmakers?  Uncle Bill’s home movies don’t count.  Award-winning screen writer Mark Medoff is coming to Silver City to screen his new film, “The Heart Outright.”  The director Ross Marks will also be here.  We are calling the event “Dinner and a Movie.”  An Italian-themed dinner will be served on the patio next to Light Hall on WNMU’s Silver City Campus.  Diners will have an opportunity to meet the filmmakers.  They will also introduce their production in the historic theatre.

Mark Medoff is a playwright, screenwriter, film and theatre director, actor and professor.  His play “Children of a Lesser God” received both a Tony award and Laurence Olivier award for Best Play.  He wrote the screen play for the major motion picture starring William Hurt and Marlee Matlin, and was nominated for an Academy Award.  Ross Marks, director and professor, organizes the Las Cruces International Film Festival, which attracts worldwide attention.

The events are scheduled for Sunday, August 6, 2017.  The al fresco dinner will be served from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.  The bar will be open from 5:30 to 7:00.  The filmmakers will introduce their work at 7:00 p.m. in WNMU’s Light Hall Theatre.  After the showing, a VIP reception will be held at Datura Day Spa in downtown Silver City.

Tickets for dinner and movie are $25 per person.  Movie-only tickets are $10.  The VIP reception for supporters of the Silver Screen Society are $50.  Tickets will be available at Gila Hike & Bike, Manzanita Ridge and the WNMU Office of Cultural Affairs in Hunter Hall.  This special presentation is supported by the Rotary Club of Silver City and Western New Mexico University.
