Hearing Scheduled For Former Martinez Campaign Manager

Office of the Governor

A federal court has scheduled a change of plea hearing for Gov. Susana Martinez's former campaign manager, whose trial was to start next month on charges of hijacking the campaign's email system after Martinez became governor.

The hearing for Jamie Estrada is set for Monday afternoon before U.S. Magistrate Judge Lorenzo Garcia.

Estrada attorney Zach Ives said Friday he couldn't comment on whether his client had reached a plea agreement with federal prosecutors.

Estrada has pleaded not guilty to charges of intercepting email in the campaign account and making false statements to federal investigators.

Estrada briefly served as campaign manager in 2009, as Martinez was beginning her bid for governor. She took office in 2011.

Jury selection in Estrada's trial was to start July 10.
