Heartworm-Positive Dogs Need Homes

Seven dogs at the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley are hoping to find their forever homes, despite having been recently diagnosed with heartworm.

Dogs with a heartworm condition automatically qualify for free adoption, according to shelter director Dr. Beth Vesco-Mock.

Three of the dogs are large breed. The other four are small breed. They have until Monday to be adopted out of the shelter before being euthanized.

According to Mock, all seven have great personalities and would be ideal companion animals, with proper medical attention.

Anyone interested in adopting from the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley main shelter can stop by anytime between noon and 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, or from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. The shelter is located at 3551 Bataan Memorial West in Las Cruces.

For more information, contact the shelter directly at (575) 382-0018 or visit their website at www.ascmv.org
