Heavy Damage In Las Cruces Fire

Las Cruces firefighters extinguished a fire at a residential structure Saturday afternoon.  Las Cruces Firefighters were dispatched to the 300 block of East Chestnut Avenue at 12:35 p.m. for a residential structure fire.  The first arriving fire crew witnessed heavy flames coming from the front of the home.  Crews attacked the fire and had it contained within minutes.

 

The building suffered heavy fire and smoke damage.  Fire official’s damage estimates are at $73,000.  The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time, but it is believed to have originated in a bedroom.  The resident of the home was able to exit the home without injury.  The American Red Cross is currently assisting the displaced resident.   

 

There were no reports of firefighter or civilian injuries.
