SILVER CITY, N.M. (AP) — Authorities say they still are trying to identify the human remains found in the Gila National Forest earlier this year.
The Silver City Sun-News reports (http://bit.ly/wBcpX0) that Grant County Sheriff's Department is seeking the public's help and is releasing photos of some jewelry found with the remains in the Gomez Peak area.
Authorities said a hiker found what appeared to be a lower jawbone on a trail on Gomez Peak in January. A week later, a U.S. Forest Service employee found another bone near the same area. Members of the U.S. Forest Service and U.S. Border Patrol later conducted a search of the area and discovered additional human remains.
A Hawaii Titanium ring with wood and a green stone beads necklace were found with the bones.
