Hit And Run Suspect Arrested

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – Las Cruces Police have arrested a man who was involved in a hit-and-run crash Monday evening.

Michael Phillip Peralta, 25, of Mesilla Park, N.M., is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, resisting or obstructing an officer, criminal trespass and violating terms of his probation. Peralta is being held at the Dona Ana County Detention Center without bond.

Shortly before 9 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 14, police were dispatched to the 1700 block of west Hadley Avenue where a 1993 Jeep Wrangler was left abandoned after striking a set of mailboxes and a large pole. Witnesses told officers that the driver fled, on foot, westbound from that location.

Inside the Jeep Wrangler officers discovered several opened containers of cold beer and a New Mexico Alcohol and Gaming Server certificate identifying Peralta. Officers searched for Peralta for several hours but were unable to locate him.

Early Tuesday morning officers were notified that Peralta walked into the emergency room at Memorial Medical Center seeking medical attention. Officers responded to the hospital and detained Peralta.

Peralta was subsequently charged with probation violation along with the other crimes.
