Holloman Airman Dies At El Paso Hospital After Accident

El Paso – Officials with the 49th Wing at Holloman Air Force base have confirmed the death of Tech. Sgt. Byron Honsvick on May 19 at an El Paso hospital.

"It is with tremendous sadness I must report Team Holloman has lost one of our own," said Col. David Krumm, 49th Wing commander. "Sergeant Honsvick passed away from injuries received during a motorcycle accident on May 18. Lisa and I ask that you keep the Honsvick family, their friends and co-workers in your thoughts and prayers as we all grieve the loss of Byron."

Sergeant Honsvick, of Marysville, Wash., was assigned to the 49th Maintenance Operations Squadron. Prior to his joining the 49th MOS, he was a member of the 49th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron.

A memorial service is being planned for Tuesday, May 24, at 10 a.m. in the Holloman Chapel.

The accident remains under investigation by the Alamogordo Department of Public Safety. The U. S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations is assisting as needed.
