Holloman Community Day Scrapped Due To Federal Budget Cuts

HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. – The Holloman Air Force Base Community Day, scheduled for Saturday, May 18, has been canceled due to recent clarification to U.S. Air Force sequestration guidance.

The 49th Wing regrets any inconvenience this cancellation causes to the residents of the Tularosa Basin planning to attend the event.  In the current environment of budgetary uncertainty, this decision will allow the wing to dedicate all available funds toward mission accomplishment and taking care of our Airmen and their families.

“This cancellation is about making the most out of available funds.  We must all collectively be good stewards of taxpayer dollars, and readiness remains the wing’s top priority,” said Col. Andrew Croft, 49th Wing commander. “The timing of this decision is unfortunate, however, we have to do what’s best for the 49th Wing and our nation.”

The base will be open for normal weekend operations on Saturday, May 18.
