Hot Temperatures Delay NM-28 Work Until Tuesday

Las Cruces: The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) District One with Blue Collar Construction will continue with maintenance work on a portion of NM 28 that resides in the Town of Mesilla. The NMDOT has rescheduled the maintenance resurfacing treatment that consists of chip sealing which will enhance and extend the roadway.

The crack sealing has been completed; however, due to hot weather and high temperature readings. The contractor will need to change the date for the chip sealing from Monday June 30th at 2:00 am, to Tuesday July 1st at 2:00 am. The work zone will be established between mile marker 27 to 28.8 in Mesilla, and is scheduled to be complete by 6:00 pm on July 1st.

Motorists will encounter lane restrictions and reduction in speed. The NMDOT and the contractor will place traffic control devices alerting motorists of the restrictions, along with a pilot car to assist with the movement of traffic within the work zone.
