Doña Ana County Fire and Emergency Services Department investigators are looking for clues as to what started a fire Tuesday afternoon that gutted a mobile home in Chamberino.
Firefighters from Anthony, La Mesa, La Union and Mesquite were called to the 300 block of San Luis Avenue at 3:25 p.m. Tuesday after a relative who lived next door to the house called 911.
Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from what appeared to be a bedroom inside the single-wide mobile home.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire within 35 minutes, but the home was determined to be a total loss. There were no injuries reported.
The displaced residents are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
