I-10 Closures This Week

I-10 East Ramps @ Sunland

All Day, 27 hours

3 a.m. Sunday, August 20 to 6 a.m. Monday, August 21

·     The Sunland Park Exit Ramp from I-10 East will close.

·     The Sunland Park Entrance Ramp to I-10 East will close.

Alternate routes:  Drivers on I-10 East who want to avoid the I-10/Sunland interchange should use North Mesa Street (SH 20) or Transmountain Road (Loop 375).

Detour:  Drivers on I-10 East who wish to access retailers on Sunland Park Drive will be detoured to North Mesa Street (SH 20). The detour will start at the North Mesa Exit (Exit 11) or further up I-10 East at the Executive Center (Exit 16).

Major operation: On Aug. 20, the goal is to place 21 of 36 massive concrete beams onto columns for the new Sunland Park Flyover Ramp. This operation will continue for the next 3 nights. [Map 1]

 

Three Nights

Monday, August 21 through Wednesday, August 23

9 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. each morning

·     The Sunland Park Exit Ramp from I-10 East will close.

·     The Sunland Park Entrance Ramp to I-10 East will close.

Crews will complete the placement of concrete beams for the new Sunland Park Flyover Ramp.

NOTICE – Specialty bridge crews are being mobilized to repair bridge joints. The work will require full closures of I-10 on the nights on Aug. 21-24. [See flagged closures on pages 2 and 3]

I-10 & Mesa

Five Days

Monday, August 21 through Friday, August 25

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily

·     The right lane on North Mesa Street (SH 20, eastbound) – in the direction moving toward Remcon Circle – will close between Osborne Drive and the North Mesa Entrance Ramp to I-10 East.

 

Crews will be working on bridge structures and an underground sewer line. [No Map] 

Five Days

Monday, August 21 through Friday, August 25

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily

·     The North Mesa Exit Ramp (Exit 11) from I-10 East will close.

·     The right lane on I-10 East leading up to the North Mesa Exit Ramp will close.

·     South Desert Boulevard will be reduced to one lane between Thorn Avenue and North Mesa Street (SH 20).

Detour: I-10 Eastbound traffic may exit at Redd Road (Exit 9) and take Doniphan Drive to North Mesa Street (SH 20).

Crews will move bridge components into the area and do work on a retaining wall. [Map 2]

Sunland

Five Days

Monday, August 21 through Friday, August 25

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily

·     The right shoulder will close on the Sunland Park Flyover Ramp to I-10 East; HOWEVER, the flyover ramp WILL BE OPEN to traffic.

Crews will be installing conduit for illumination. [No Map]

 

Five Days

Monday, August 21 through Friday, August 25

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily

·     The Sunland Park Exit Ramp from I-10 West will experience a right-turn lane closure leading up to Sunland Park Drive. The exit ramp WILL BE OPEN to traffic.

Crews will be removing an illumination pole. [Map 3]

I-10 East @ Mesa

Two Nights

Monday, August 21 and Tuesday, August 22  

9 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. each morning

·     I-10 Eastbound will close completely between North Mesa (Exit 11) and Executive Center (Exit 16).

Detour:  Traffic on I-10 East will exit at North Mesa Street (Exit 11), take North Mesa Street (SH 20) to Executive Center Blvd, then take Executive Center Blvd to the entrance ramp to I-10 East.

Crews will be making pavement repairs on I-10 East. [Map 4]

I-10 Both Directions

Two Nights

Wednesday, August 23 and Thursday, August 24  

9 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. each morning

·     I-10 Eastbound will close completely between the North Mesa Overpass and the Sunland Park Overpass.

·     The Resler Entrance Ramp to I-10 East will close.

·     I-10 Westbound will close completely between Executive Center Blvd and Sunland Park Drive.

·     The Sunland Park Drive Overpass at I-10 will close completely between the eastbound and westbound ramps.

Detours:  Traffic on I-10 East will exit at North Mesa (Exit 11), take North Mesa Street (SH 20) to Doniphan Drive, take Doniphan Drive to Sunland Park Drive, and take Sunland Park Drive to the I-10 Eastbound Entrance Ramp.

                                                                          

               Traffic on I-10 West will exit at Executive Center Blvd (Exit 16), take North Mesa Street (SH 20) to Sunland Park Drive, and take Sunland Park Drive to the I-10 Westbound Entrance Ramp.

 

               Traffic on Sunland Park Drive will be detoured around the I-10 intersection via North Mesa Street or Doniphan Drive. Follow the detour signs in place. Police will be on-site to help drivers through the detour routes.

Crews will be working on the Sunland Park Flyover Ramp, removing illumination poles, striping and more. [Map 5]

Ramps may close up to 1 hour prior to the start time of an I-10 highway closure.

Sunday, August 27 through Thursday, August 31

9 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. each morning

·     I-10 Eastbound may close completely at North Mesa (Exit 11).

·     I-10 Westbound may close completely at Sunland Park (Exit 13).

·     Sunland Park Overpass at I-10 may close completely between the eastbound and westbound ramps.

 

Overnight

Monday, August 28 through Wednesday, August 30

9 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. each morning

·     The Sunland Park Exit Ramp from I-10 East may close.

·     The Sunland Park Entrance Ramp to I-10 East may close.

Overnight

Tuesday, September 5 through Thursday, September 7  

9 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. each morning

·     I-10 in both directions may close completely at Sunland Park

·     Sunland Park Overpass at I-10 may close completely between the eastbound and westbound ramps.

All Day, 27 Hours

Sunday, September 10

3 a.m. to 6 a.m. the next morning (27 hours)

·     I-10 West may close between Executive Center and Sunland Park.

·     The left lane on I-10 East will close between Executive Center and the Asarco Bridge.

Crews are planning to shift I-10 Westbound traffic onto the new westbound collector-distributor (CD) lanes.

Ramps may close up to 1 hour prior to the start time of an I-10 highway closure.
