Albuquerque – New Mexico is not in the path of Hurricane Irene, but the storm is still expected to cause problems, especially for those with east coast travel plans.
Two direct flights to Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, Md., are in jeopardy, and many more flights could be canceled depending on where Irene makes landfall.
Albuquerque International Sunport officials are expecting a large trickle-down effect. Planes scheduled to fly-in from the east coast to pick up passengers in Albuquerque could be grounded over the weekend due to weather conditions.
Travelers should expect delays or cancellations.
Sunport spokesman Dan Jiron tells KOB-TV (http://bit.ly/pDWQOl) that passengers should call their airline directly to make sure flights are on time.
