Jewelry fundraiser and adoption event to help ACTion Programs for Animals

Las Cruces, New Mexico – Buy some jewelry, and save a kitten.

If you enjoy jewelry and love kittens, you won’t want to miss Kitty Glitter. The fundraiser benefits ACTion Programs for Animals and other local rescues that save kittens during kitten season in the spring. The event is at the Griggs & Reymond House, located at 504 W. Griggs.

The pre-sale event is from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 17. The entry fee Friday is $10, and refreshments will be served. The jewelry sale continues from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 18, and admission is free.

Featuring thousands of new and gently used pieces of jewelry, Kitty Glitter is sponsored by Project Save a Kitten. For more information about the Kitty Glitter event, please email gardens@zianet.com.

Adopt a dog, or donate supplies.

ACTion Programs for Animals is having a dog adoption event and donation drive at the Walmart located at 3331 Rinconada Blvd. from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 18.

Come and meet several adoptable dogs. If you’d rather donate items during the event, the APA adoption center is always in need of cat and dog food, cat litter, treats, toys, cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, copy paper and other supplies.

For more information about the adoption event and donation drive, email mail@apalascruces.org or call 575-644-0505.

About ACTion Programs for Animals:

APA was founded in 2009 and began with a focus on helping keep animals from entering the shelter through programs like the still-running pet food bank. In May 2012, the Dona Ana Pets Alive! campaign was started – the groups' direct rescue and re-homing effort to help the community reach its No Kill goal as soon as possible. This campaign concentrates its efforts on rescuing animals abandoned at the municipal animal shelter, with a focus on the ones most at-risk, which are large/unruly dogs, heartworm-positive dogs, pit bull mixes, long-term dogs, shy/timid small dogs, cats and hundreds of kittens.

To learn more or to get involved, call the APA information line at 575-644-0505. Call the adoption center at 575-571-4654 or visit the center at 800 W. Picacho from 12 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays or Saturdays.
