Jobs Town Hall Thursday In Silver City

Silver City – A Town Hall Meeting is planned for Thursday in Sliver City focusing on one of the nation's most crucial priorities: job creation.

New Mexico's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 7.9 percent in October, up from 7.7 percent in September and just 4.5 percent a year ago.

The national unemployment rate was ten percent in November .last month's jobless rate in New Mexico is scheduled for release this week.

The public is invited to give input on President Obama's initiative to create jobs in rural America at a town hall Thursday in Silver City.

The event starts at 3:30 Thursday afternoon at the Grant County Business and Conference Center located at 3031 U.S. Highway 180 East.

USDA Rural Development State Director Terry Brunner says .he will be seeking answers on various subjects including .the businesses and sectors that have been hit the hardest ..and opportunities for growth.

Brunner says .all of the input from the Silver City Town Hall will be sent to the White House for further review.
