Juarez, Mexico – The mayor of the border city of Ciudad Juarez says federal police shot and killed one of his bodyguards.
Mayor Hector Murguia says his guards were outside a house where he was holding meetings when two masked federal police officers approached. He says his guards identified themselves but that the federal police shot one of them anyway.
He identified the slain bodyguard as 29-year-old Jose Humberto Perez.
Murguia said he was "furious and indignant" about the shooting Tuesday night and demanded justice.
Federal police could not be reached for comment.
A spokesman for the Chihuahua state prosecutors' office said the shooting was under investigation and he could not provide further details.
