Knife-wielding Man Suspected of Threatening Woman and Young Boy In Las Cruces

A Las Cruces man armed with a knife is suspected of threatening to kill a woman and her young nephew.

Martin Sedillo, 53, of the 1900 block of Colorado Avenue, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Las Cruces Police detectives learned that Sedillo was on foot near the intersection of Colorado Avenue and Lees Drive at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28. A 21-year-old woman and her 12-year-old nephew were nearby when they heard Sedillo yelling at another woman.

Detectives learned that Sedillo then turned his attention to the 21-year-old woman and her nephew. Sedillo is accused of brandishing a knife and running after the two victims, threatening to kill them.

The woman and her nephew got away from Sedillo and went to their nearby home. Police were called and detained Sedillo on Colorado Avenue as he walked toward Solano Drive.

Sedillo was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center where he’s being held on a $7,500 bond.
