By KRWG News

Las Cruces – The 102nd annual New Mexico Knights of Columbus State Convention will be held May 5-8, 2011 at the Las Cruces Convention Center.

The convention will be hosted by the Las Cruces Knights of Columbus Council # 1226.

"We are very excited about the opportunity to showcase the city's brand new Las Cruces Convention Center and the many attractions our beautiful city and surrounding area has to offer," said Convention Chairman Miguel Frietze.

About 500 members from around New Mexico are expected to attend as well as Supreme Representatives from New Haven, Connecticut.

The convention is expected to generate approximately 600 room nights and about $85,000 in economic impact for Las Cruces.

The Knights of Columbus is the largest Catholic family fraternal service organization in the world. The New Mexico Council represents over 7,700 men and their families who come together in a common cause to support church, charities, the community, families and the fraternal order.
