Krahling Resigns From Spaceport Board

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) — One of seven members of the New Mexico Spaceport Authority's board of directors has resigned after Gov. Susana Martinez left him off a list of officials confirmed by Senate panel.

Dona Ana County Commissioner Scott Krahling tells the Las Cruces Sun-News he believes the governor's office was caught off guard by an opinion column he wrote criticizing changes to Spaceport visitors facilities.

A spokesman for the governor cited concerns with Krahling's 'engagement" in board activities for growing tension that ended with the resignation.

Krahling resigned Thursday, a day after a Senate panel formally confirmed a slate of other Martinez-appointed members for board posts. All seven were appointed early last year but the Senate just took up their confirmation.

The Spaceport is being built north of Las Cruces.
