KRWG ALERT: Las Cruces Police Say Arizona Prison Escapee Has Local Ties

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – A convicted murderer who escaped from prison in Arizona on Friday has ties to Las Cruces and police believe there is a remote possibility that he may headed to the Mesilla Valley.

Tracy Province, 42, and two other inmates escaped Friday evening from the privately-run, medium-security Arizona State Prison in Kingman, Ariz. One of the escapees, 36-year-old Daniel Renwick, was captured Sunday in Colorado but Province and 45-year-old John McCluskey are still on the run.

Province is serving a life sentence for murder and robbery. Province is from Illinois but has relatives who reside in Las Cruces. McCluskey is serving a 15-year-sentence for attempted second-degree murder, aggravated assault and discharge of a firearm.

Province and McCluskey are believed to still be in Arizona and may be travelling with a woman identified as Casslyn May Welch, 44, who possibly helped the trio escape. Welch is believed to be McCluskey's girlfriend. Her 1996 Chrysler Concord with Arizona license plate ABL7584 has yet to be located.

It is not known if the escapees are armed but, because of the nature of their crimes, police are considering them to be extremely dangerous. Anyone with information of their whereabouts is urged to call 911 immediately.
