Las Cruces Alert System Now Active
Residents can now register online for the new, free, City of Las Cruces service called “Las Cruces Notification System” (LCNS). LCNS is an outreach system that allows the City to provide information to residents via phone calls, text messaging and emails.
Through LCNS, residents can register separately for two types of messaging: Alert/Advisory and Public Meeting Notices-Community Messages.
Alert messages constitute emergencies only such as active shooter, hazardous material situations and severe weather. Residents listed in the White Pages of the phone directory will automatically receive alert notifications by a phone call on their land line. Advisory messages include road closures, water main breaks and zoning issues. Residents will need to voluntarily signup to receive ADVISORY messages and can select to be notified by text, email and/or phone calls.
Public Meeting Notices – Community Messages include City Council meetings and work sessions, public hearings and messages from the mayor and City Council and informational publications. Residents will need to voluntarily signup to receive Public Meeting Notices – Community Messages and can select to be notified by text, email and/or phone calls.
Residents who are listed in the in the White Pages will receive an introductory phone call from LCNS Saturday, August 11th. This is the only time residents will receive a phone call unless it is a life or health emergency or they voluntarily signup for notifications.
