Las Cruces-Area Group Plans Tuesday Meeting; Focus Shifts To Supreme Court Nominee

Commentary: Las Cruces:  Staff from Sen. Tom Udall’s Las Cruces office will speak to WE’RE IN: Southern New Mexico, the local Indivisible chapter on March 28  at 12:00 noon at Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, second floor.
The WE’RE IN meeting comes on the heels of the republican’s failure to bring their health care bill to a vote March 24.  Meanwhile, Indivisible groups across the nation saw the failed effort as a victory for Obama’s signature health care program, says Tony Martinez, head of the WE’RE IN group.

“Our Indivisible efforts were key as we handed Donald Trump a huge defeat via the pressure we put on our congressional representatives,” he says.  Rep. Steve Pearce’s last town hall in Las Cruces drew more than 500 people, many of whom voiced disagreement with him.

Martinez says that the group will now focus on the Supreme Court nominee. Senator Udall is on record as opposing the nominee, Judge Neil Gorsuch.  “We are happy to have a Field Staff member from Senator Udall’s local office speak at our meeting.”  Members will participate in an extended question and answer session following the talk.

The meeting, which runs from noon until 2:00 p.m. is free and open to the public.  Be aware that food is not allowed in the library.  For more information contact Tony Martinez at (256) 698-5212 or Linda G. Harris at 575-405-2177.
