Las Cruces Area Transit Employee Suspected of Trafficking Cocaine While at Work

Police arrested an employee of the Mesilla Valley Intermodal Transit Terminal who is suspected of trafficking cocaine while on duty.

Ernesto Garcia-Quintana, 29, of the 5200 block of Melody Lane, is charged with one count of possession of cocaine with intent to traffic.

In January 2018 agents with Metro Narcotics learned of suspicious activity occurring at MVITT, the mass transit hub at 300 W. Lohman Ave. A three-week undercover investigation ultimately revealed that suspected cocaine was being sold by Garcia-Quintana.

Garcia-Quintana was found to be in possession of cocaine on Feb. 8, and was arrested by Metro Narcotics agents and officers from the Las Cruces Police Department. He was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center and has since been released on bond.

Metro Narcotics is continuing its investigation and additional charges are possible.

The Las Cruces/Dona Ana County Metro Narcotics Agency is the leading organization in combating drug trafficking within the county. Metro Narcotics is comprised of agents who are skilled investigators from the Las Cruces Police Department, the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office and New Mexico State Police.
