Las Cruces Area Woman Pleads Guilty In Death Of Husband

Kimberlee Guffey, indicted by the State on January 19, 2012, for the May 31, 2011 killing of her husband, Padraic Guffey, pled guilty to  involuntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence,  Wednesday before the Honorable Judge Beyer. 

Both charges are fourth degree felonies and Ms. Guffey now faces a prison sentence of up to 36 months. 

The victim's mother was present at the plea hearing and participated extensively in determining the outcome of the case.

By agreement with the State, the defendant Kimberlee Guffey, is required to serve a minimum of 18 months in prison but the State will be seeking the maximum penalty at sentencing which has been tentatively scheduled for September 30, 2013.
