Las Cruces Armed Robberies

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – Las Cruces Police are investigating two armed robberies that were reported Friday afternoon and appear to be related.

At around 4:30 p.m. Friday, June 4, Las Cruces Police were called to the Dona Ana Park Apartments at 1900 N. Solano Dr. where a taxicab driver reported being held-up at gunpoint by two men. About five minutes later, police learned that the driver of an ice cream vending truck was robbed by two men who briefly took his vehicle and held the victim at gunpoint for a short period of time.

The two crimes appear to have been committed by the same men who displayed what looked like a black semi-automatic handgun in both robberies. The suspects took undisclosed amounts of cash from both victims.

The two victims did not report any physical injuries.

The suspects were both described as Hispanic men in their mid-20's to early 30's. Both men were said to have facial hair and were wearing black, short-sleeve shirts and shorts.

One of the men is said to be 5-feet-6-inches tall and weighs around 190 pounds. The other suspect was shorter, possibly 5-feet to 5-feet-4-inches tall with a thin build. The suspects spoke fluent Spanish and some English.

The suspects were last seen near the corner of Evelyn Street and Ash Avenue and possibly left the area in a gray, older-model Isuzu Rodeo.

Anyone with information on the two armed robberies, or the identities of the suspects who committed them, is asked to call police immediately.
