Las Cruces – Las Cruces Bishop Ricardo Ramirez has been hospitalized with pneumonia.
Diocese of Las Cruces officials say doctors want the 74-year-old Ramirez to spend several days in a hospital and then rest next week after being released.
According to the Las Cruces Sun-News, the diocese says it will not disclose the name of the hospital so the bishop can recover without facing an overwhelming number of visitors.
Ramirez became the first bishop of the Diocese of Las Cruces on Oct. 18, 1982.
