Las Cruces Burn Ban Ends

As indicated by the National Weather Service, the city of Las Cruces is no longer experiencing severe or extreme drought conditions. The latest drought index that has been released showed marked improvement with the recent rains and therefore the Las Cruces Fire Department has decided to rescind fire restrictions.

Fire restrictions were imposed on May 22 but the new order rescinding the limitations on open burning takes effect beginning at noon Friday, July 26.

The Las Cruces Fire Department can reinstate fire restrictions if climatic conditions, drought, fire danger or other factors present a fire threat to personal property or public safety.

City residents may obtain burn permits at any of the seven fire stations within Las Cruces. The Las Cruces Fire Department encourages residents to follow all rules and regulations pertaining to open burning within the city.
