Las Cruces, NM – With City Council approval on Monday, a fifty-eight kilowatt photovoltaic system will be built on the south side of the parking lot of the Convention center.
The building located at 680 University Avenue is completed with final touches being added to the exterior and surroundings. The solar parking shade structure will produce alternative energy of around one hundred ten thousand kilowatt hours a year to help power the convention center.
The project is funded with a grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act through the Department of Energy and will cost just over four hundred and ninety-five thousand dollars. The construction contract has been awarded to DPW Solar Corporation of Albuquerque.
