Las Cruces Couple Accused Of Enslaving Nannies

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – A Las Cruces couple has been charged with human trafficking for allegedly enslaving two nannies they brought to the states from Indonesia.

According to the United States Attorney, 47-year-old Elina Sihombing and her husband, 54-year-old David Girle, were arrested Monday.

The complaint says that in 2004 and 2005 they brought the women from Indonesia to Phoenix, where they were then living, to work as nannies and with the understanding that they would have the opportunity to go to college.

Instead, the complaint says, they forced the women to work from 8:00 a.m. to midnight every day, never paid them and never let them go to school. The couple moved to Las Cruces in 2007 and the women lived with them until 2010, the complaint says.
