Las Cruces – Authorities say two escapees from a Las Cruces juvenile detention facility are back in custody after almost three days on the run.
New Mexico Department of Public Safety officials say 18-year-old Jesus M. Loera and 16-year-old Joshua Hernandez were captured Friday by the State Police and U.S. Marshals Service.
They say the two were arrested without incident in the community of Vado.
Information received earlier in the day led authorities to a mobile home in Vado. Loera and Hernandez were found hiding in a bedroom closet.
The two reportedly overpowered and restrained a detention officer at the J. Paul Taylor juvenile detention facility on Tuesday evening.
They took the officer's keys and escaped the facility through an exterior laundry room door and then scaled a fence to make their getaway.
