Las Cruces To Hold Arroyo Preservation Plan Meeting

The City of Las Cruces Community Development Department will hold a public input meeting to discuss the draft of the City’s Arroyo Preservation Plan at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, in room 2007A-B of City Hall, 700 N Main St.

The Arroyo Preservation Plan will provide policy guidance to:improve systematic flood control and drainage functions; allow continuance of historic flows in arroyos; protect arroyos in their natural state; protect native vegetation and wildlife habitat; help protect private property; accommodate and protect essential utility installation and maintenance; help improve storm water quality; increase protected open space; increase trails and trail connectivity; and provide additional recreational opportunities.

The draft plan is available for review in advance of the meeting at

las-cruces.org/protectarroyos. Individuals who are unable to attend the meeting may submit their comments to Carol McCall atcmccall@las-cruces.org by Wednesday, April 30, 2014.
