Las Cruces – Las Cruces Firefighters extinguished a structure fire this morning in a north Las Cruces residence.
Las Cruces Firefighters were initially called out to investigate smoke in the area of Court and Almendra Street just before 5. Initial arriving fire units reported flames and heavy smoke coming from a window of a home located in the 800-block of East Court avenue. Fire crews quickly attacked the fire and brought it under control. The home was unoccupied.
The cause and origin of the fire are still being investigated by the fire investigator. Approximately 50% of the structure suffered fire and smoke damage. There was also contents damage. The estimated amount for damages is still being determined.
No firefighter injuries were reported at this incident.
