Las Cruces Launches New Tool to Assist “Export Ready” Businesses

The City of Las Cruces’ Economic Development Office has introduced a new online tool, the Top Markets Series, developed by the International Trade Administration (ITA)to help local “export ready” businesses identify their next export market by comparing opportunities across borders. The tool provides free reports ranking future export opportunities within a particular industry based on a sector specific methodology. The reports provide a detailed assessment of the competitiveness landscape within a sector, as well as the opportunities and challenges facing U.S. exporters in key markets. Each report is available for download.

Gary Camarano, Las Cruces’ Economic Development Coordinator said, “This is a great tool for our local businesses looking for export opportunities. Providing access to information like this is probably one of biggest services we can provide our area businesses. It’s great to have support from the U.S Commerce Department and the International Trade Administration in making this tool available.”

Robert Queen, the U.S. Department of Commerce - International Trade Administration’s Regional Director added, “Exports are essential to sustaining economic growth and supporting American jobs. We want to work with our local partners, like the City of Las Cruces, to strengthen the competitiveness of U.S. industry, and to promote trade and investment. We look forward to further collaboration with the City to help the area’s businesses.”

Interested exporters can access the Top Markets Series on the City’s Economic Development web page at las-cruces.org/demographics under Top Markets Series. For more information about the City’s Economic Development Office and its programs and services to assist businesses, contact econdev@las-cruces.org or visit the City’s web site at las-cruces.org/en/departments/economic-development.
