Thomas Branigan Memorial Library will be celebrating its 80th anniversary this November by creating a time capsule. Plans are to display the contents of the time capsule in the library for the month of November. The time capsule will then be put into a secure, marked place at the Library, and registered with the International Time Capsule Society. In 50 years, the capsule can be opened so all can see the changes that have spanned the decades.

Bestsellers and award-winning books will accompany recent technological innovations and other library ephemera in the time capsule. However, we all know the library is more than just books, it is about people who use the library, so we would like to give library supporters a “voice” by including their submissions.

Renee Frankel, Library Administrator, said: “The time capsule will be made more interesting by accepting letters from our customers. Help us celebrate our first 80 years with your memories of the library and how it has made a positive impact on your life.”

The Library will accept a one page, written or typed, letter detailing what the library means to you. These letters will be included in the time capsule for future generations to read. Letters will be accepted in the library at the Reference Desk starting Tuesday, September 8th through Friday, October 30th 2015.
