Las Cruces Man Arrested For Threatening To Kill His Wife

A Las Cruces man was arrested Thursday after his son reportedly told Doña Ana County Sheriff’s deputies his father had threatened to kill his mother.

Ramon Favela, 45, was taken into custody without incident after his 44-year-old wife alleged he tried to strangle her, saying he had “sold (his) soul to the devil” and was going to kill her.

The victim told deputies she and Favela, who have been married for 25 years and recently reunited after a 10-month separation, were in bed when Favela reportedly accused her of infidelity during their separation. The victim alleged Favela grabbed her by her neck with his right hand and used his left hand to restrain the rest of her body.

According to court documents, the victim was locked in her bedroom with Favela for several hours until her son reportedly asked to use the bathroom to shower and get ready for school the next morning.

The couple’s adult son, after learning of the allegations, notified the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office.

Favela was arrested and transported to the Doña Ana County Detention Center on charges of aggravated battery against a household member and false imprisonment. His bond was set at $25,000.

At the time of his arrest, Favela was on probation for a prior conviction. Friday morning his probation was reportedly revoked.
