Las Cruces Man Charged In Stabbing

Police have arrested a 20-year-old suspected of stabbing a man during an altercation Thursday afternoon in south Las Cruces.

Dylan Triplett, of the 2300 block of east Nevada Avenue in Las Cruces, is charged with one count of aggravated battery that may cause death or great bodily harm.

The 38-year-old victim received one stab wound to his lower abdomen and was airlifted to University Medical Center of El Paso. His injury was not life threatening.

Las Cruces Police detectives learned that at around 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, Triplett and his girlfriend were walking along the 300 block of Jasper Drive when Triplett got into an argument with a woman standing outside her home. At around the same time, the woman’s 38-year-old husband arrived home and saw his wife in an argument with Triplett.

The 38-year-old man went to the defense of his wife and got into a physical altercation with Triplett. Detectives believe that sometime during the altercation, Triplett stabbed the 38-year-old man once in his lower abdomen.

Triplett was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $10,000.
