Las Cruces – A 20-year-old man has been sentenced to a maximum term of nine years in prison for his role in the drug overdose death of his one-time girlfriend.
Zach Baker was sentenced Thursday in Las Cruces in the death of 16-year-old Brianna Lilley, who consumed a toxic mix of cocaine and Tylenol on Jan. 5.
Prosecutor Scot Key says Baker has shown no remorse for his actions, even after pleading guilty in August to charges of child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
State District Judge Jerry Ritter says he is not pleased that Baker has continued to use illegal drugs while free on bond.
