Las Cruces Mobile Home Fire; Serious Injuries

Serious injuries were sustained in a Las Cruces mobile home fire Tuesday.  Las Cruces Firefighters were dispatched to the 2200 block of Holiday Avenue just before 5 a.m. Tuesday morning for a residential structure fire.  The first arriving fire crew witnessed heavy flames and smoke coming from the structure.  The initial fire crew had the blaze contained within minutes after arrival.

Prior to fire personnel arrival, one adult woman occupying the home was able to evacuate her two children before needing assistance from a neighbor to evacuate herself.  The occupants were taken to Memorial Medical Center by ambulance.  The adult woman was later flown to a burn hospital in Lubbock, Texas.  The family dog was found deceased.

The mobile home suffered heavy fire and smoke damage.  The mobile home next to it suffered some broken windows with light fire, smoke and water damage.  Damage estimates are not complete at this time.  The cause and origin of the fire is still being investigated.

There were no reports of firefighter injuries.
