Las Cruces Plane Crash Injures Two

  The Las Cruces Fire Department responded to a downed aircraft at the Las Cruces International Airport Monday.

Firefighters were alerted just before 8:00 a.m. to a report of a general aviation airplane that crashed on the western perimeter of the airfield. The aircraft rescue firefighting crew based at the airport quickly located the heavily damaged single engine plane and its two injured passengers.

Fire crews along with paramedics from American Medical Response treated the crash victims. One patient was transported to University Medical Center in El Paso and the other declined transport.

There was no fire as a result of the crash. However, crews has to use foam to mitigate a fuel leak.

The crash scene was turned over to the New Mexico State Police and City of Las Cruces Airport Operations.
