Las Cruces Police Arrest Three For Kidnapping

Las Cruces Police arrested three men suspected of kidnapping a woman on Friday and holding her until Saturday because she allegedly stole money from the suspects.

Jeremy Leshawn Davis, 21, and 23-year-olds Alonzo Deangelo “Synna” Cliatt and Benjamin Niko Deon Bradley were arrested over the weekend and charged with one first-degree felony count each of kidnapping and conspiracy of commit kidnapping.

Davis was also charged with two second-degree felony counts of criminal sexual penetration and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

During the early morning hours of Saturday, Nov. 17, Las Cruces Police learned that Davis, Cliatt and Bradley had kidnapped a 19-year-old and were holding the woman against her will, presumably because she owned them $300. Detectives later learned that Davis had sexually assaulted the woman more than once on Friday evening or Saturday morning, and threatened her with a handgun.

On Saturday morning officers located Davis and the woman at 2418 S. Espina St. Davis initially resisted officers but was subdued and taken into custody. The woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment of multiple, non-life-threatening injuries.

Cliatt and Bradley were located by Las Cruces Police later on Saturday and taken into custody without further incident.

A black semi-automatic handgun was located in Davis’ possession. A preliminary investigation into the ownership of the gun indicates that it had been reported stolen from a residence in Dona Ana County. Las Cruces Police are continuing their investigation and additional charges are possible.

Davis, Cliatt and Bradley are all being held without bond at the Dona Ana County Detention Center.
